NGV buys new Bracks painting
The NGV has bought John Brack's The Bar (1954). Press release here. Don't get broads like that behind Melbourne bars these days. Pity.

I worked in the CBD in the 1960's when 5pm really did look exactly like that. Uniform dress, and everyone heading in the same direction to Flinders Street Station (no Underground).
